Kinja'd!!!

This is a set of coil overs for a first generation rx-7. The car may still be a bit of a mess after this weekend but the suspension will be dialed. Also nothing beats the feeling of beating the forces of rust and neglect on a bolt. I have beaten nature with my own two hands.

Techno Toy Tuning! I'm a huge fan, but just FYI, on solid rear axle cars that style of coilover can be a bad idea. The shock mounting points on the axle and the chassis are not made to take the weight of the car like the spring seats are.

I always hate how ugly most coilover colors are. Then again, on a bright purple or red first-gen these would look right at home.

Looks awesome! Pics when they're all set up? How low (if you did it for style) or stiff (if you did it for performance) do you plan to go?

And this is why I'm going to use a coilover on the spring seat like this:

Kinja'd!!!

That's on a 1st Gen Celica. 5" adjustable spring perch.

Never thought of that. May have to talk to my dad about strengthening them - he's a long time body man. The bad thing is the only other company doing coil overs stop shipping things but kept taking money, so I didn't have a choice for coil overs. I hope ttt knows what they're doing.

Mine is black with the clear coat eaten off by the sun. So essentially flat black. It's ratty right now but I've got all kinds of plans. More plans than money in fact.

Where does one obtain a large (read: NOT standard 2.5" coilover spring size) adjustable spring perch like that? I want to do something like that on my solid-axle Cressida Wagon.

F-code axle?
You should be able to use the same perches tictoc (the guy from the forum that I borrowed the pics from) used (Celicas have T-codes but are very close in spring size to Fs):

Parts used: Springs: The springs were already on the car and I don’t know what they are. If I was to order springs, I would order BLACK MAGIC CONVENTIONAL SPRINGS, REAR, 5" O.D. X 11" TALL 200# http://www.southwestspeed.com/?sec=view_menu…

Shocks: QA1 Precision Products TD703 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hal-td70…

Spring Perch: Adjustable 5” spring perch with mounting plate attached http://yhst-26451710505916.stores.yahoo.net/index.html

Don't know the axle code but I know an axle from a mk1 Celica-supra bolts in. By was going to measure my upper and lower spring diameters, then look for similarly sized truck springs from a junkyard and cut them to height. This will give me a higher spring rate than my stock parts and let me lower it a bit without bouncing/bottoming out like cutting stock springs would.

Should tell you on your fender/firewall tag.

I looked it up at work today (I work at a Toyota dealership) and yes it is an F292 rear end.

4.10 Open diff. Now find a MkII Supra with LSD and swap it in. As I said, the springs and whatnot from above should work for you.

I assume you mean the actual diff internals itself since the mk2 supra is IRS. I know the whole axle from a mk1 supra bolts in but those are crazy rare.

You already have a 7.5" rear end, just like the MkI Supra. And yes, just the diff gearing from a MkII is what you'll need for the swap.

*strokes chin pubes thoughtfully*

Would I keep my pinion and ring gear and just put that on the diff from the MA60? I suppose my biggest concern would be making sure my drive shaft length doesn't need to change.

You should be able to use the ring & pinion since you have a 7.5" as well. Might want to look at a Tru-Trac for it. That's another avenue I was looking at for my Supra axle swap.

Yeah I was looking at these to see if they would work, but I'm not sure what size my axles are or if they would work with those diffs.
